Compound Overview

Human Menopausal Gonadotropin (HMG) is a purified gonadotropin preparation containing both follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) biological activity. Traditionally isolated from the urine of postmenopausal women, HMG consists primarily of glycoprotein hormones that regulate reproductive endocrine function through selective activation of the FSH receptor (FSHR) and luteinizing hormone/choriogonadotropin receptor (LHCGR).

Researchers have extensively investigated HMG as a valuable tool for studying reproductive endocrinology, gonadal physiology, follicular development, steroidogenesis, gametogenesis, and pituitary-gonadal axis regulation. Its dual gonadotropin activity enables experimental investigation of coordinated endocrine signaling pathways involved in ovarian and testicular physiology, receptor pharmacology, intracellular signaling, and hormone-mediated cellular responses.

As an investigational research product, HMG supports laboratory studies involving reproductive biology, molecular endocrinology, hormone receptor signaling, peptide glycoprotein biology, and structure-function relationships in controlled experimental settings.

Laboratory Handling

Store refrigerated immediately upon receipt to preserve biological activity. For extended laboratory storage, freezing at −20°C or below is recommended. Protect the lyophilized preparation from moisture, excessive heat, and direct light. Following reconstitution, avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as these may reduce glycoprotein stability and biological activity. Allow the vial to equilibrate to room temperature before opening to minimize condensation, and always use sterile laboratory equipment together with appropriate aseptic laboratory techniques. This product is intended for use only by qualified research personnel operating in controlled laboratory environments.
