LL-37

Compound Overview

LL-37 is a naturally occurring 37-amino acid cationic antimicrobial peptide derived from the C-terminal region of the human cathelicidin precursor protein hCAP18 (CAMP). It is the only known human cathelicidin peptide and serves as an important component of the innate immune system. Due to its amphipathic α-helical structure and broad biological activity, LL-37 has become a valuable investigational peptide in immunology, microbiology, and molecular biology research.

Researchers have extensively investigated LL-37 for its interactions with microbial membranes, host immune signaling pathways, chemotaxis, cytokine regulation, epithelial biology, and wound repair mechanisms. In addition to its direct antimicrobial properties, LL-37 has been studied for its role in modulating inflammatory responses, biofilm formation, angiogenesis, and cellular communication. These diverse biological functions have established LL-37 as an important research tool for studying innate immunity, host-pathogen interactions, and peptide-mediated cellular signaling.

As an investigational peptide, LL-37 supports laboratory research involving immunology, infectious disease biology, molecular pharmacology, peptide engineering, and structure-activity relationship studies.

Laboratory Handling

Store refrigerated immediately upon receipt to preserve peptide stability. For extended laboratory storage, freezing at −20°C or below is recommended. Protect the lyophilized peptide from moisture, excessive heat, and direct light. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles following reconstitution, as these may reduce peptide stability and biological integrity. Allow the vial to equilibrate to room temperature before opening to minimize condensation, and always use sterile laboratory equipment together with appropriate aseptic laboratory techniques. This product is intended for use only by qualified research personnel operating in controlled laboratory environments.
