IGF-DES (IGF-1 DES(1-3))
Compound Overview
IGF-DES, also known as IGF-1 DES(1-3) or Des(1-3) Insulin-Like Growth Factor-1, is a synthetic analog of human insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) consisting of the native IGF-1 peptide with the first three N-terminal amino acids removed. This structural modification produces a 67-amino acid peptide with substantially reduced affinity for insulin-like growth factor binding proteins (IGFBPs), making it an important investigational tool for studying localized IGF-1 receptor signaling and peptide-receptor interactions.
IGF-DES selectively binds to the insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor (IGF-1R) and has been extensively investigated in laboratory models examining intracellular signaling pathways, including PI3K/Akt and MAPK/ERK, as well as mechanisms of cellular proliferation, differentiation, migration, and protein synthesis. Due to its altered binding characteristics, researchers utilize IGF-DES to explore receptor activation kinetics, localized signaling responses, and comparative pharmacology relative to native IGF-1 and other engineered IGF analogs.
As an investigational peptide, IGF-DES supports laboratory research involving molecular biology, endocrinology, peptide engineering, receptor pharmacology, and structure-activity relationship studies.

Laboratory Handling
Store refrigerated immediately upon receipt to preserve peptide stability. For extended laboratory storage, freezing at −20°C or below is recommended. Protect the lyophilized peptide from moisture, excessive heat, and direct light. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles following reconstitution, as these may reduce peptide stability and biological activity. Allow the vial to equilibrate to room temperature before opening to minimize condensation, and always use sterile laboratory equipment together with appropriate aseptic laboratory techniques. This product is intended for use only by qualified research personnel operating in controlled laboratory environments.
