BACTERIOSTATIC WATER FOR INJECTION
Compound Overview
Bacteriostatic Water for Injection is a sterile, non-pyrogenic aqueous solution consisting of Water for Injection (WFI) containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative. It is widely utilized in laboratory and pharmaceutical settings as a sterile diluent for the reconstitution and dilution of compatible investigational compounds, including lyophilized peptides, proteins, and other research materials.
The inclusion of benzyl alcohol inhibits the growth of many common microorganisms following initial entry into the vial, allowing multiple withdrawals under appropriate aseptic laboratory conditions. Bacteriostatic Water does not possess intrinsic biological or pharmacological activity and functions solely as a sterile research reagent and diluent.
As a laboratory reagent, Bacteriostatic Water supports research involving peptide preparation, analytical chemistry, molecular biology, protein chemistry, and pharmaceutical formulation studies.

Laboratory Handling
Inspect the vial prior to use and ensure the solution is clear and free of visible particulate matter. Maintain aseptic laboratory technique during all withdrawals to minimize contamination. Use only sterile laboratory equipment when handling the solution. Keep the vial tightly sealed when not in use and store according to the recommended storage conditions. Although the benzyl alcohol preservative inhibits the growth of many microorganisms, proper laboratory handling procedures remain essential to maintain product integrity.
